Abstract
The performance and detailed flow structure of a counter-rotating compressor under different rotating speed and different axial distance were experimentally and numerically investigated. The results show preliminarily that the performance of contra-rotating compressor changed in a large range with the different rotating speed. The isentropic efficiency increased with the speed ratio, and the peak efficiency was 87.44% at 1.06(the speed ratio), and it was reduced again with speed ratio increasing. While the total pressure ratio and isentropic efficiency changed in less than 2% when the axial distance augmented from 40% axial chord of rotor 1 to 70%. The peak total pressure ratio appeared at 45% axial chord of rotor 1, while the peak efficiency appeared at 55% axial chord of rotor 1.
