Abstract

Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu 3-xTixO10+y (0≤x≤0.3) samples were synthesized and investigated by resistance, AC susceptibility, and poweder X-ray diffraction measurements. The morphology of some samples was also studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the addition of a small amount of titanium can greatly enhance the 2 2 2 3 phase formation, and that the largest volume fraction of this high-Tc phase occurs for x = 0.1. It is believed that the Ti atoms were actually incorporated into the crystalline structure.
