Abstract

The technical study of the laser rapid forming process has been conducted with Rene95 superalloy and TC4 titanium alloy as the cladding materials. The results show that the laser rapid forming technical conditions are more rigorous for TC4 titanium alloy as compared with those of Rene95 superalloy. For the laser rapid forming of TC4 titanium alloy, a narrower granularity scope and a higher laser power density are required, and the melt pool is easy to be contaminated by oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen which exist in the shielding ambience. However, on the other hand, TC4 titanium alloy is not easy to crack during the forming process if the appropriate parameters are adopted. Therefore, the components with large scaled size and complex profile can be manufactured by this process.
