Abstract

The surface of magnetic powders with diameter size of 10-20 μm was modified by SiO2. The appearance, structure and phase constitution of the powders before and after treatment were characterized by SEM, XRD. The electromagnetic and microwave absorbing properties of the obtained samples were measured by AV3629D network analyzer in the frequency ranges of 8.2-12.4 GHz. The band width below -10 dB for Fe(CO)5/SiO2 nanocomposites absorber is far larger than that of Fe(CO)5 absorber. The SiO2 layer has an effect on the microwave absorbing properties of the composites. Fe(CO)5/SiO2 nanocomposites absorber is a broadband absorption, high temperature resistant absorber in X band.
