Abstract

The friction and wear properties of PTFE composites filled with different fillers were studied by using an MM-200 wear tester, then the effects of water quench treatment on the tribological and mechanical properties of the PTFE composites were investigated. Experimental results show that the wear of the PTFE composites can be greatly reduced by the fillers, but the effects of fillers on the properties of PTFE composites are different. The PTFE composites filled with Ekonol have excellent friction and wear properties, but its tensile strength is low. The filler of PI in PTFE increases the friction coefficients of the PTFE composites. With the increase of the content of PI in PTFE, the tensile strength of the PTFE composites increases, but its tension rate decreases. The PTFE composites filled with CdO have excellent friction properties, but its tension rate is high. Water quench treatment reduces the crystalline density of the PTFE composites, and this leads to the decrease of the hardness and anti-wear properties of the PTFE composites.
