Abstract
The properties of extreme - pressure, antiwear, friction reduction of 2, 5-dialkoxy methylthio-1,3,4-thiadiazoles having four different chain lengths, and the relations with their structures and tribological properties were evaluated using a four ball test machine, and compared with those of zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (T202) and amine salt of thiophosphate complex ester (T307). The results indicated that these compounds possessed good load-carrying capacity, friction reduction and antiwear properties which were similar to those of T202 and T307 under 300N load, and they exhibited better antiwear properties than T202 and T307 at higher load and low concentration (less than 1%). The thermal stability and corrosive properties of these compounds were also investigated.
