Abstract

The cold deep drawing of commercial pure (CP) titanium is difficult, and the microstructure and mechanical properties vary notably during the process. The cold deep drawing of a hemispherical surface part was investigated, and the effect of deformation mode on the microstructure and mechanical properties were analyzed. Heat treatment was applied to improve the plasticity of drawn part. The results indicate that, the microstructure and mechanical property differ in different zones of the hemispherical drawn part: the twining fraction in deformation increase with the increase of the plastic deformation amount, and the strength of CP Ti increase with the decrease of ductility. The microstructure and mechanical properties can be improved after annealing, and the annealing temperature has strong effect on microstructure uniformity and grain size.
