Abstract

SiC/TC4 and SiC/Ti40 composites were made by the foil - fibre - foil method using SCS - 6 SiC fibres and their microstructures were studied. The results reveal that it is suitable to make SiC/TC4 and SiC/Ti40 composites by 925°C solidification. The thickness of the reaction layers of SiC/TC4 and SiC/Ti40 is 0. 8 μm and 0. 5 μm, respectively. The coherence between matrix and fibre is good. There are some TiC precipitates between the fibres in SiC/Ti40 composite.
