Study on response time of OCB mode LCDs

Abstract

On the basis of discussing the importance of fast response techniques in Liquid Crystal Display(LCDs), Factors influencing response time by differential equation of liquid crystal molecules motion under external electric field was studied. Combining with velocity gradient figure, the dynamic curve of director from the mutual reaction between drainage and molecule's motion under external field based on the liquid crystal Optical Compensation Bend(OCB)mode was explained. Subsequently, the best driving wave from the viewpoint of energy was reviewer. A new mode design based on nucleus' contribution, with 7% improvement in response time compared to OCB mode, is suggested.
