Abstract

YFeO3 ceramic powder was synthesized by sol-gel method. XRD showed that orthorhombic YFeO3 can be obtained with well crystallization above a sintering temperature 850°C. The result of hysteresis loop measuring indicated that orthorhombic YFeO3 shows weak ferromagnetism at room temperature. Under an applied magnetic field H=0 kA/m, saltation appears which maybe result from the magnetic anisotropy of YFeO3. The curves of εr-T and D-T showed that dielectric constant of YFeO3 increases with the rise of temperature, accompanied with frequency dispersion phenomenon, and YFeO3 shows low temperature dielectric relaxation behavior. A large MD coefficient about 35.11% was observed at 1kHz in magnetic field 0.8T which indicates the exist of magnetodielectric effect on YFeO3.
