Abstract

Plate of TC4-DT alloy of damage tolerance with a thickness of 30mm was rolled within α+β phase region. The specimen with T-L direction was cut,and soluted at 965°C for 1 hour before aged at 550°C for 8 hours. The fatigue crack growth behaviors and fracture mechanism were studied. The results showed that the fatigue crack could not only round primary α phase ahead, but also directly split it ahead. The crack in fore-crack region and fast growth region was mainly in the form of micro-cleavage fracture; but in the steadily growth region, it grew in the form of strip mechanism and micro-cleavage fracture.
