Abstract

A novel broadband near-constant beamwidth conical corrugated horn antenna with radial slots shaped as Archimedes spiral is proposed. The new corrugated horn antenna has a quite competitive combination of performance figures for both the Ku-and K-bands. The-10 dB beamwidth of radiation pattern over the entire band is near-constant varied among 50°-70°. The maximum difference of-10 dB beamwidth in the three main planes (E, H, and D) from 12GHz to 28GHz is less than 5°, which demonstrates the outstanding axial symmetry of radiation patterns. In addition, the gain of the antenna can reach among 14.5-17.5 dBi and the variation of the phase center is less than 1.2?(fmin) over the operating bandwidth. This novel structure corrugated horn antenna possesses a small size. The length of the horn antenna is just 2 ?(fmin).
