Abstract

Di-hexadecyldithiophosphorate (DDP) capped ZnS nanoparticles and oleic acid (OA) capped ZnS nanoparticles with average diameter of 3 nm were prepared and the tribological behaviour of them as oil additive was investigated using a four-ball wear tester. Results show that both DDP capped ZnS nanoparticles and OA capped ZnS nanoparticles can remarkably improve the antiwear ability of liquid paraffin, OA capped ZnS nanoparticles exhibit good friction-reducing ability but DDP capped ZnS nanoparticles can not reduce friction.
