Abstract

In many cases precise probabilistic data are not available on uncertainty in some basic variables, but the magnitude of the uncertainty can be bound. Therefore two methods are applied to describe the bounded uncertainty of the basic variable. And the effects of the bounded uncertainty basic variables on structures response are formulated mathematically by Taylor expansion based on the two bounded uncertainty descriptions. In order to measure the resistance of structure to the uncertainty. A critical relative deviation maximum (CRDM) is proposed in this paper. An example of a ten-bar truss is used to demonstrate the index of CRDM.
