Abstract

A thick-walled cylinder under outer pressure load was studied by means of the Finite cell method (FCM). Sensitivity analysis was made to demonstrate the advantage of this method. Shape optimization of a turbine disk is conducted. It is shown that the introduction of B-spline basis function can achieve a high continuity of stress filed along the cell boundary.
