Abstract

On making preparations for utilizing Wu's three-parameter reliability analysis model, a new three-moment stochastic finite element method (TM-SFEM) was proposed. It takes into account such random factors as load, material parameters and especially geometry. The randomness of geometry plays a vital role in reliability analysis and its effect can be conveniently computed. A calculation of the reliability of bending fatigue strength of a cantilever beam was taken. The results indicate that reliability computed with the TM-SFEM is closer to the standard value computed with MC-FEM.
