Abstract

The present work addressed a new stability analysis progress to probe out the optimal wavelength of crossflow (CF) instability for infinity spanwise swept wing. Though the development of nonlinearity is noticed, the new analysis progress shows an efficient way to find out the optimal wavelength via linear method base on the similar work in Arizona State University (ASU). The characteristics of result of Orr-Sommerfel (O-S) equation in the linear region are developed as the new criteria. In the end, according to the optimal wavelength got by our new criteria, discrete micron-sized roughness elements array control experiments are conducted to validate the former conclusion, and transition is delayed distinctly.
