Abstract

The shape descriptor is crucial for 3D model recognition. A new approach is presented to calculate 3D skull spatial decomposition feature vector through using the orthogonal decomposition property of spherical harmonic transform, the shape descriptor is constructed and the criterion is built to compare the similarity of different skull shape. The results indicate this method is effective for 3D skull identification.
