Abstract

We aim to make radar cross section(RCS) more efficient and practical for a long-range stealth missile with three-dimensional geometric shape design. In this paper, we explain in much detail how to improve the radar stealth effects by shape design. The aerodynamic and stealth performances can be much improved through optimization with our design method. Based on the analysis of radar reflection character of typical objects, we focused on reducing the reflection of radar wave from the main threat direction through effective contour design, which can reduce the interception risk by detectors such as radar. With our improved optimization design method, we can obtain a set of evenly spaced optimal solutions of the RCS, by taking into consideration both aerodynamic and stealth requirements simultaneously. The calculation results, given in Fig.9, show that the RCS by our method is 0.006- 0.018 m2, which indicate preliminarily that the new aerodynamic configuration is reasonable and feasible.
