Abstract

Based on the plate theory and wave function expansion method, the scattering phenomena of guided wave in an infinite plate with single and two circular damages were theoretically analyzed, respectively. By using the translational addition theorems of Bessel functions, the expressions of scattering displacement fields in the plate were obtained. Numerical results for the scattering displacement field distributions around the damage were graphically presented and discussed. The results showed that the existence of multiple damages has larger effects on the displacement components ur and uz than those on rθ; the displacement component uz is sensitive to multiple damages and can be used as an effective index to identify damages in a plate-like structure.
