Abstract

To solve problems such as serious packets collision, bandwidth waste, broadcast redundancy, and battery energy exhaustion, which are induced by broadcasting in wireless multi-hop networks, an efficient broadcast mechanism is presented in this paper. Optimized rebroadcast model is established to obtain high efficiency for broadcasting. It optimizes broadcasting by reducing redundant rebroadcasts and balancing the energy consumption among all nodes. Only local information is required to complete efficient broadcast. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that it is a 'green' distributed broadcast mechanism with low overhead and low redundancy for wireless multi-hop networks.
