Research on fit clearance probability distribution of shear bolt group

Abstract

When connecting engineering structures using bolt group, usually there is a certain bolt-hole clearance. On the precondition of considering the positional tolerance of the connecting hole and the direction of the external load, the calculation method of the probability distribution of the minimum bolt-hole clearance in a given load transferring direction is put forward for the single bolt connection. Referring to Bernoulli trial principle in probability and statistics study, we propose the calculation method of the probability distribution of bolt-hole clearance is proposed for a bolt group with different number of bolts. Taking the windshield bolt group in an airliner as an example, and using Monte-Carlo sampling method, we calculate distribution probability of the bolt-hole clearance in the single bolt connection. And based on the result, for the bolt group, the probability distribution of bolt-hole clearance and the number of bolts in the bolt group catering to the certain probability request is calculated.
