Abstract
To optimize the equipment management business, an Equipment Management Information System (EMIS) for manufacturing enterprises was presented. First, the functions of EMIS were given based on the comprehensive investigation of the enterprises' requirements, and information integration of EMIS was discussed. Next, the three-tier Client/Server CC/S) architecture was selected comparing with the two-tier C/S architecture, and component clustering for EMIS was designed. Moreover, the EMIS based on these components was developed successfully using Delphi 6.0. Running results in two enterprises show that the EMIS improves their daily equipment management efficiently, provides precise decision-making information for the manager and is well integrated with other management information systems.
