Reliability-Oriented Design Study of Dual-Channel Manual Cockpit Opening Mechanism

Abstract

In response to the frequent failures and multiple malfunctions of the manual opening mechanism for aircraft cockpit canopies, this paper proposes a dual-channel manual opening mechanism. This mechanism allows for the manual opening of the cockpit canopy from inside the cockpit in case of failure of the electric opening method. Additionally, it enables ground personnel to manually open the cockpit canopy from the outside. A reliability analysis model of the transmission system gear structure, based on finite element method and subset simulation method, is developed. Combining digital simulation methods, the design analysis of the transmission system gear structure is conducted, and the relevant physical parameters of the proposed manual opening mechanism are obtained. Subsequently, simulations are performed to verify the reliability of the proposed manual opening mechanism and to assess the variations in contact force. Finally, high reliability and practicality of the opening mechanism are confirmed through simulated experiments and experimental validation.
