Abstract

Importance measures in reliability systems are used to identify weak components in contributing to proper functioning of the system. The characteristics of the integrated importance measure for compound systems are demonstrated in this paper. First, the physical meaning of the integrated importance measure is described by its calculation formula. Second, its characteristics and the comparisons between the integrated importance measure and Birnbaum importance measure are discussed respectively in two typical compound structure systems. Finally, a case study is given to demonstrate the integrated importance measure.
