Abstract

The excess entropy ΔS with respect to the maternal crystal has been determined for 18 metallic glasses differing in the mixing entropy ΔSmix. Using these data, thermodynamic fragility mΔS has been determined within the Adam–Gibbs model. It has been shown that mΔS increases with ΔSmix but decreases with increasing ΔS, which reflects the degree of structural disorder in a glass. It has been concluded that the so-called “high-entropy glasses” (i.e., having high ΔSmix) are indeed most ordered and their properties are characterized by the slowest relaxation.
