Abstract

The dental crown has many geometrical feature points and ganglesome occlusal surfaces in so small volume. Because of the machine's precision limit, it is difficult to get enough data by CT or MRI scanning methods at reconstructing such complex surface as occlusal surface. At first, make the plastic model and the model for layer scanning. And take photos of every new section when the model is milled by milling cutter, step by step. Then, transform data from photos type to 3D digital model. At last, the tooth surface and solid model are obtained by approximating CT data and data by layer scan method, and the result can be used to do other research, such as rapid prototype model and finite element analysis. All the models are the key works of further work, such as building rehabilitation model library.
