Abstract

Wyner-Ziv video coding usually makes use of the feedback channel to perform rate control at the decoder, which makes the decoding more complicated and constrains its application. By analyzing the characteristics associated with the bitrate, an effective rate control algorithm is proposed for pixel domain Wyner-Ziv video coding. Motion is estimated first using the correlation noise model distribution parameter, then according to temporal correlation among bitplane, the suitable initial rate chunks to decoder the current bitplane can be obtained. In this way, the number of requests can be effectively reduced and decoding complexity is lowered. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce decoding complexity compared to the decoder rate control algorithm, at the same time ensure the coding efficiency.
