Abstract
The zone sublimation method was applied to pre-treat ZnSe polycrystalline synthesized from two elements. ICP-MS analysis results show that the percentage of impurities removed in high-purity source materials is only about 10%. XRD and EDS results display that the composition of polycrystalline is adjusted effectively after treatment. The pretreated polycrystalline with the composition approaching to that of single crystals is applicable for high quality single crystal growth. It is pointed out that the main purpose of the pretreatment of high-purity materials using zone sublimation method should be to adjust the composition to the defined point-the concrete non-stoichiometric composition.
