Abstract
The research progress was summarized of vegetable oils acted as environmental friendly lubricants in recent years. An introduction was firstly made on methods to improve the performance of vegetable oils, such as the addition of additives, chemical modification or biological modification. Finally the emergency of further study in this field was pointed out.
