Abstract

LaB₆-ZrB₂ eutectic in-situ composites with LaB₆ as matrix and ZrB₂ whiskers uniformly distributed in the matrix were prepared by the method of electron beam zone melting. The average diameter of the ZrB₂ whiskers is 0.2-1.1μm and the number of the ZrB₂ whiskers per unit area can be up to 10⁸/cm².
