Abstract
To research the absorbing properties of rare earth doped W-type ferrites, the W-type ferrites, BaCoZnRe0.1Fe15.9O27 (Re=Ce, La, Nd), were prepared by a sol-gel method. The properties of Re3+ substituted W-type ferrites were studied, and the structures, morphologies, magnetic properties and microwave absorption properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and vector network analyzer, respectively. The results showed that all the samples were W-type ferrite and exhibited paramagnetism. When Re3+ doped in BaCoZnFe16O27, the size of samples was much smaller, the value of ε' decreased while the ε″ value increased, and the magnetic properties of the samples were enhanced. Among this samples, the BaCoZnNd0.1Fe15.9O27 showed a much better microwave absorbing properties at 2~13 GHz, and the value of tan δ reached 0.58 at 10.1 GHz.
