Abstract

Ti-Pd alloy coating was prepared on pure Titanium surface by double glow plasma alloy technology. TiPd3, TiPd2, Ti2Pd3, Ti3Pd5, TiPd, Ti4Pd compound phases and Pd phase were observed on the alloyed surface layer with about 90 μm thickness in which the content of Pd gradually changes along the depth direction. Compared with Ti0.2Pd, the alloy coating has better crevice corrosion resistance in NaCl saturated solution at 100 °C or in 8.6%H2SO4 solution at 40 °C. Its corrosion rate is only 0.682 mm/a in 80%H2SO4 solution and 0.004 mm/a in 30%HCl solution at room temperature, which is only 18.2% and 12.5% of Ti0.2Pd corrosion rate at the same condition, respectively.
