Abstract

In this work, two types self-healing phases, SiBCN and SiB6, with low complex permittivity were introduced into SiCf/Si3N4 composite to improve the oxidation resistance. The oxidation behavior of composites depends on the cracking degree and crack-healing ability of the matrix. With the incorporation of SiBCN and SiB6, a large amount of glass phase can be generated, and the cracks can be better filled even the serious matrix crack. After the oxidation of 1200 ℃, the residual strength of SiCf/Si3N4 composite incorporating SiBCN and SiB6 can reach 227 MPa, while that of SiCf/Si3N4 was as low as 120 MPa.
