Abstract

Natural rectorite was modified with dodecyl benzyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, then an organic-modified rectorite (OREC)was obtained, and then it was used to modify gel polymer electrolyte. OREC was studied by infrared analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and polarization microscopy, and then the XRD results, ions conductivity and thermal characteristic of OREC modified gel polymer electrolytes were analyzed. The results show that OREC can be used as a modifier in gel polymer electrolytes. It can be completely dispersed in electrolytes, and it increases the ionic conductivity of electrolytes. The glass transition temperature of modified electrolytes is raised with increasing the amount of OREC, and thermal-stability is also greatly improved.
