Abstract

To avoid the frequent clamping times, accumulated panel distortion error and low point connection precision of panel's typical structure in automatic drill/rivet assembly which influenced the assembly quality of products, the definition method for clamping area in sheet metal assembly process, and the feasible region model attended operation was built. By considering the variation radio of workpiece and the riveting point finishing radio of first clamping comprehensively, the combination operation between the feasible regions was realized with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and the optimal scheme of panel clamping point layout for satisfying geometric tolerance requirement was obtained. A certain kind of aircraft wing assembling process was illustrated as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
