Abstract

In order to improve the sensitivity of spiral bevel gears caused by assembly errors, the optimization total curvature of different surface was applied from the tooth surface topology structure. The total curvature of two meshing surface contact points which orients lengthwise, can be considered as sensitivity coefficient, and the effect of reference point sensitivity coefficient of local synthesis and location parameters was investigated. The machine-tool settings of pinion which reduce sensitivity of assembly errors can be obtained by the optimization of the first order gear ratio, contact path direction, second order modified and third roll coefficient. The numerical example reveals that sensitivity coefficients of whole mesh cycle is controlled in comparatively small range, the amplitude and symmetry of transmission curve can be achieved to design requirements, the meshing quality can be improved.
