N2 - In the real grid environment, currently, application are distributed unevenly, dynamically utilized and comparatively lack. So, in this paper, after discussing the users demands for applications and their licenses in the grid environment, we propose an innovative on-demand software license management scheme. The licenses are no longer limited, but flexible with the users. And, the users are charged on the basis of their bills. The basic components of this license management system are registration and license authorization, authentication, track and report, accounting, statistics and optimization. This new scheme can enable full software sharing, solve the problem of license lacking radically and maximize the value of software in the grid environment.
