Abstract

Nano-scale Te precipitates in cadmium zinc telluride (CZT, Cd1-xZnxTe) were studied using HRTEM analysis. Three types of crystal phases of Te precipitates were identified. The hexagonal and monoclinic phases of Te were coherent with the matrix of CZT, while the high-pressure rhombohedral phase of Te was incoherent with the matrix of CZT. The way in which rhombohedral Te precipitates may originate is discussed.
