Novel design of CCD based image data acquisition system

Abstract

Compared with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and specialized Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Micro Controller Unit (MCU) has the advantage in cost, stability and embeddability, but suffers from the problem of low processing speed and is not applicable in high-speed data acquisition. An improved design of circuit is presented to accomplish a SCM MCU based data acquisition system. In order to solve the problem in time sequence control of image data from A/D to FIFO, a 74HC04 logic chip was employed to delay the CLK signal between A/D chip and First-In - First-Out (FIFO) chip. Continuous data acquisition could be achieved by this system. It can also be applied in many other applications with better flexibility.
