Abstract

Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research (NIN) is one of the main units for the R & D of titanium alloys. NIN devotes to research titanium alloys for more than 40 years and receives many achievements, especially in the new titanium alloys. NIN designed and developed many new kinds of titanium alloys, for example TC21 high strength high toughness Ti alloy with damage tolerance, Ti75 alloy used for ship-building, Ti-B19 high strength and corrosion resistant alloy, CT20 cryogenic alloy, Ti12LC low cost alloy, TP650—Ti based composite used for 650°C, 600°C high temperature alloy-Ti600 and so on. This paper reviews the new alloys designed and developed by NIN in recent 15 years.
