Abstract

For the distributed manufacturing resources, networked manufacturing resources modeling based on Physical Manufacturing Unit (PMU) and its information integration approach based on eXtensible Markup Language (XML) were studied. A new organization and management model based on PMU layer, working cell layer and physical equipment layer was proposed. PMU information model including basic information, manufacturing capability, physical composition, status information, as well as tool and fixture information was defined. Then, the modeling method oriented to PMU for manufacturing resources by XML was presented, and description specification for the XML Schema of networked manufacturing resources information model was defined which realized descriptions of heterogeneous PMU manufacturing resources. Finally, the information integration framework based on XML for manufacturing resources was put forward, which was applied to the development of the networked manufacturing resources optimization deployment platform.
