Abstract

With the introduction of the green aviation concept, the development of all-electric and multi-electric aircraft has emerged as one of the major directions for the next generation of military and civilian aircraft. This has raised the bar for the quality and power capacity of the aircraft power supply system. The output frequency of the classic three-stage synchronous generator is proportional to the input speed, and a constant-speed transmission device is required, which will increase the weight of the machine and limit the generator capacity. To solve the optimization problem, a cascaded brushless doubly-fed variable-speed constant-frequency power system is researched, which can effectively reduce the weight of the aircraft and meet the design requirements of large-capacity generators; its structure is further analyzed. The mathematical model of the cascaded brushless doubly-fed aircraft generators is created following the working theory, and the vector control approach is suggested. Through Simulink simulation, the results show that the cascaded brushless doubly-fed generator can realize constant frequency and constant voltage three-phase AC output under the change of input speed, and the system has good dynamic characteristics.
