Abstract

Usually, there is a breeze that can easily blow out leaves but not enough to drive a wind turbine. To fully utilize the vibration energy from breeze, we propose an innovative Miura-origami-inspired electret power generator (MEG) constructed from only one piece of electret film. The Miura folding can transform flat materials into complex 3D structures with lightweight, excellent durability and high deformability. In addition, a high-powered generator with the function of collecting breeze vibration energy was developed and investigated by combining the MEG with flapping-leaf structures. In a word, the well-designed electret generator proposed in our paper provides a fresh idea for the applications in wind energy harvesting.
