Abstract
Microstructure of unidirectionally solidified Zn-2%Cu (mass fraction) peritectic alloy was investigated, and the coupled growth was achieved at high growth rate. Transition of cellular/equiaxied structure/arrayed cellular/plate-like cellular/coupled growth structure was presented with increasing the growth rate. It is also demonstrated that the characteristic spacing of high growth rate structures satisfies the equation of λ ·v0.5477=550.5, which shows a remarkable difference from that of low growth rate structures.
