Abstract

Some knowledge or experience in the process of product assembly is very useful for the assembly process of following products. Case-based design (CBD) can achieve the knowledge or experience reusing, and case representation and storage is crucial for CBD. We presents a method for representing assembly case of complex product based on disassembly tree. The method includes two key steps. Firstly, assembly structure and assembly planning scheme are represented based on disassembly tree. In the disassembly tree, the node represents assembly-cell, such as assembly, sub-assembly, or part, and the line between two nodes represents the filiation between two assembly-cells. Then, assembly case representation is achieved. Secondly, storage of assembly case based on adjacency-matrix is presented. The adjacency-matrix includes an one-dimensional array and a two-dimensional array. The one-dimensional array is used to save the sequence and name of the nodes of disassembly tree, and the two-dimensional array is used to save the relationship between two nodes. Storage of assembly case based on adjacency-matrix has four characteristics. Finally, an example is given to prove that the above method is valid and effective.
