Abstract
The resonant-duell method was applied to develop a method for the measurement of material damping. The damping measurement formulas were derived from the classical cantilever beam vibration theory. A double-cantilever-beam specimen was designed to measure the damping. The effect of unbalanced mass at each arm of the beam on damping measurement was studied by the finite element simulation. Some suggestions were proposed to improve the accuracy of damping measurement. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed method has a sufficient accuracy and is suitable for damping measurement of high temperature material.
