Abstract

A kind of long-range underwater acoustic information transmission technique based on M-ary Frequency Shift Keying (MFSK) modulation is studied, and the demodulation method based on spectrum estimation is proposed. For each received symbol, we calculate the Fourier spectrum of its fourth-order cumulant's diagonal slices. Then we take the location of the spectrum peak as carrier frequency and conduct demodulation according to the relationship between carrier frequency and transmitted information. The ocean experiment results indicate that transmission of 4 bit/s over 80 km distance was achieved.
