Abstract

Counter-gravity casting method has been widely used in the production of aluminum and magnesium alloy castings. Based on the cold crucible induction melting technology, this paper introduced the counter-gravity casting technique into the shaping of titanium alloy castings. A kind of suction casting control system for titanium alloys was developed. The experimental results indicate that this system can run reliably, and can make the molten titanium fill the mold from the bottom quickly and smoothly. Molten swirl, splash and flow-interrupt are avoided, a good condition for the feeding and the sequential solidification are provided.
