Abstract

Genetic algorithm has been applied to optimize the target pressure distribution for inverse design method. Pressure distribution around airfoil is parameterized and the drag is minimized under constraints on lift, airfoil thickness, etc. Once target pressures are obtained, corresponding airfoil geometries can be computed by an inverse design code coupled with a NS solver. The presented result of designed airfoil for transonic case shows that the method developed is feasible.
